As a feature of the new and better agreement I additionally get longer breaks for milk and treats so remember that. He shares my objective of conveying toys to all the great young men and young ladies; notwithstanding, there are a couple of contrasts between us. Contrasts Such As: There is no peril of a Grinch taking your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a firearm rack on his sleigh and a guard sticker that peruses: These toys safeguarded by Smith and Wesson. Instead of milk and treats, Bubba Claus inclines toward that kids leave a RC cola and pork skins [or a moon pie] on the chimney. What's more, Bubba doesn't smoke a channel. the red badge of courage :: essays research papers

A.â â â â â The Red Badge of Courage composed by Stephen Crane B.â â â â â This epic follows the impacts of war on a Union Soldier named Henry Fleming. C.     The story starts with Henry Fleming’s fantasies about being a fighter, to selection, and afterward to fight in the Civil War. His fantasy was to be a war legend and to be venerated for his stunning accomplishments. It was his choice to make, despite the fact that his mom was against going to war. Since there was nothing occurring during his repetitive life on the ranch, he at long last chosen to enroll.      Ironically, considerably after he enrolls, he ends up lounging around. He made two new companions named John Wilson and Jim Conklin. Wilson was as amped up for doing battle as Fleming, however Conklin was certain about the achievement of the new regiment. Henry started to understand that his regiment was simply meandering carelessly. In the end, Henry started to consider the fights in an unexpected way. He began to become apprehensive that he may run from the battle.      Finally when the regiment finds a fight, Jim gives Henry a bundle in a yellow envelope, disclosing to Henry that this will be his first and last fight. Cloud-computing services provide Essay

1. What business benefits do distributed computing administrations give? What issues do they understand? There are numerous advantages to distributed computing. Organizations of all sizes can exploit these and regularly discover the expenses inside their individual financial plans. Distributed computing situations can run on existing foundations, which does the change to distributed computing insignificant from this angle. Expenses are brought about dependent on the measure of registering power they really devour. (Laudon and Laudon, 2014) furthermore this kind of condition empowers organizations to scale their requirements dependent upon the situation, which assists with keeping costs inside spending plans. Another advantage is the capacity to react rapidly because of the convenientce of the application. With distributed computing organizations have the adaptability by they way they use applications; this outcomes in better pivot on data as workers can access information and applications from anyplace. Distributed computing can help with taking care of issues, for example, decreasing expenses. Since there is no requirement for extra hardware planning dollars can be spent somewhere else. Moreover, with a significant part of the framework in the cloud the requirement for extra IT workers is wiped out. There is no extra requirement for help and upkeep on equipment and programming with distributed computing. Distributed computing takes care of numerous issues, for example, decreasing costs, improving efficiencies, giving extra sources to clients, and giving remote access to representatives. Models given for the situation study included Zynga †a gaming stage offered on Facebook. When Zynga comes out with another game, they have no information on the measure of figuring power they will require. They are better ready to change this dependent on the ubiquity of some random game by means of distributed computing. The dependability of distributed computing for them rises to income. Numerous different organizations have profited by distributed computing, it empowers them to advance and support extra Internet traffic without smashing their inner frameworks. 2. What are the disservices of distributed computing? There are a few drawbacks also. The obligation of capacity is in the hands of the supplier. This presents potential security hazards as clients can transfer and download data from distributed computing and possibly use it to perform unlawful undertakings. (I think about the Target issue in November, whereby a great many consumer’s data was penetrated.) Since the product applications rely upon the supplier to oversee and bolster there is additionally chance if the site were to go down. The clients are reliant on the supplier to discover and fix the issue in a convenient way. No business needs their framework to be down for an inconclusive measure of time particularly those that look to pick up income. Organizations are additionally dependent on the supplier playing out the suitable updates to frameworks. Similarly as with any data switch there is potential for blunders to happen. I trust one such event happened as of late with a carrier organization. The rates were entered mist akenly, which cost the carrier a great deal of cash. There is constantly potential for blunders or â€Å"fat fingers† as it is known. By and large the hindrances are unwavering quality and security. 3. How do the ideas of scope organization, versatility, and TCO apply to this case? Apply these ideas to both Amazon and to endorsers of their administrations. Scope quantification is the way toward deciding the creation limit required by some random association to address the issues of the items being advanced. Adaptability is the capacity to process and handle a developing measure of need and the capacity to suit this sort of development. The all out expense of possession (TCO) is a money related gauge expected to support purchasers and proprietors decide the immediate and aberrant expenses of an item or framework. (Laudon and Laudon, 2014) The ideas of these apply to the case. Distributed computing utilizes arranging, adaptability, and TCO. Amazon is one of the greatest online retailers on the planet (I think I for one assistance them to accomplish this positioning), this implies they have to give equipment scope organization and adaptability forâ themselves, however for their endorsers too. On the off chance that they overestimate their necessities they chance budgetary misfortunes, and in the event that they think little of they risk making deficiencies for their own business needs just as supporters. As supporters, on the off chance that they run into non-accessibility over and over again they will lose confidence in the capacity of Amazon to supervisor their administrations and search out different sellers †again making potential misfortunes them as an organization. Evaluating the versatility for an enormous assorted buyer base without over or thinking little of is troublesome, however significant for their p roceeded with progress. Amazon needs to assume the all out TCO of its administrations, while simultaneously guaranteeing it can look after benefit. The administrations subscribers’ advantage from not being worried about these issues and not enduring the worst part of TCO issues. 4. What sorts of organizations are well on the way to profit by utilizing distributed computing? Why? While all organizations can profit by utilizing distributed computing, it is maybe increasingly valuable for those littler organizations, particularly from a budgetary viewpoint. For littler organizations they don’t have prior information that should be moved and can begin their activities straightforwardly on the cloud. The capacity to scale their activities is another incredible preferred position. As their business develops so can their figuring capacities with insignificant capital consumption. The cloud permits these littler entrepreneurs to fairly even the odds with those bigger organizations who regularly keep up bigger IT resources. It is a monetarily practical arrangement that doesn’t require huge capital consumptions for servers, IT groups, and information framework foundations. For these bigger organizations the cost reserve funds are not as effortlessly decided. Numerous as of now have â€Å"huge interests in complex restrictive frameworks supporting one of a kind business forms, some of which have given them key advantages.† (Laudon and Laudon, 2014)

Foundations of qualitative and quantitative methods Essay

Establishments of subjective and quantitative techniques - Essay Example The result is adequate significant ends. Subjective technique gives a more prominent understanding into the conduct of individuals that contributes towards sound or undesirable populace. The technique regularly utilizes contextual analyses and perception of a populace. For instance, an investigation on HIV on a specific network may utilize the subjective technique to distinguish practices that expansion the commonness of the illness in the populace under examination. A subjective strategy would enhance the subjective technique by benefiting the factual part. The strategy gives a superior introduction of ends in numerical structure, shows patterns and socioeconomics of a populace. In the above case of an investigation on HIV, quantitative strategy is significant in indicating angles, for example, number of powerless people, high-hazard ages, and the monetary expense of the ailment. Taking everything into account, the above delineation shows that a nursing research gives better and noteworthy ends when both subjective and quantitative strategies are utilized. While subjective techniques give a hypothetical point of view of a marvel, the quantitative strategy benefits information proof to upgrade the feasibility and unwavering quality of the outcomes. Be that as it may, utilizing the two techniques is mind boggling, tedious and requires ability in principle and

Faith and Meaning of Life With Regard to Lev Tolstoys Beliefs - Free Essay Example

Why does philosophy exist? The answer is simple, yet complex at the same time for those whose minds arent open to various interpretations of literature, ideals, but most importantly, questions. This is why philosophers dedicate virtually their entire lives to such questions and ideals that spark their interests. Philosophy can be defined as love of wisdom, and with such wisdom comes experience, knowledge, and good judgment. Such elements of wisdom invoke curiosity; thus, bringing us to the inevitable question pondered for countless centuries by some of the greatest minds in the history of philosophy: what is the meaning of life? or simply, why do we exist? This question has plagued the minds of intellectuals, mainly philosophers, and particular individuals have tried to answer this question, failing to do so throughout the span of their lifetime. However, I want to focus on one individual; someone who dedicated their entire life to answering this question. This person is thought to be one of the most influential Russian philosophers and writers of all time. He is, none other than, Leo Tolstoy. His search for the meaning of life brought him to numerous places, both mentally and spiritually. Leo Tolstoy had been baptized and brought up in the Orthodox Church. As he progressed through his childhood and formative years, and eventually adulthood, he had already given up and abandoned his faith. Tolstoy also gave up on college when he was 18 years of age. He believed he was too educated to believe in such doctrines, and that there had to be an answer to the meaning of life, purely based on rationalism, science, and nothing to do with religion. Thus, his life was a complete and utter struggle, in which he dedicated to finding an answer to this seemingly unanswerable question. Through such hardship, Tolstoy, having searched all if not most aspects of science, realized that the answer and the ultimate truth to the meaning of life was indeed faith and religion, a preconception that he had once deemed false and irrelevant with regard to the meaning of life. I completely agree with Tolstoys answer to the meaning of life. Faith, which I see as having a particular set of morals, all ows us to follow certain principles that, in turn, dictates who we are as human beings, and what the purpose of our lives is. However, free will and moral responsibility, as weve talked emphatically about throughout the entirety of this semester, is a critical determinant to what faith you decide to live by. Believing in something gives you a sense of direction in life. Our actions, which resonates from our beliefs and faithful orientations, are what give us character, purpose, but most importantly, shows us who we are. Why do people have faith? What does faith do for us? It is a common practice thats persisted for thousands of years. Even before the origin of Christianity, faith was a conception thats always existed regardless of time. Even looking as far back as ancient Athens, civilizations praised the Greek gods and lived their lives in accordance with faith and admiration of them. Why? Well, why do scientists believe in science? We believe in such things to give our lives meaning, truth, understanding, and to deviate from such purpose is to renounce your faith. Faith allows us to reach such purpose by instilling morals in us that helps us achieve successful and fulfilling lives; successful in a sense of becoming the best person you can possible be. Leo Tolstoy studied many faiths during the course of his life, such as Buddhism, Mohammidanism, and especially Christianity. Despite all that hed gone through to search for the answer to the ultimate question, he says, I asked: What is the meaning of life, beyond time, cause and space? With the result that, after long efforts of thought, the answer I reached was: None (36). Though he later went on to state in life, in which I concur, that faith is the one and only true answer to the meaning of life. Otherwise, one could literally drive themselves insane and even ponder suicide in an attempt to answer lifes most common yet indubitably non-answerable questions. The reason as to why one might even go as far as to ponder suicide is because if the person cannot find what gives his/her life purpose, theyd begin to believe that their life is not even worth living; thus the suicidal thoughts. One might ask: Why is faith the one true meaning of life? Why cant happiness in itself and bringing about mass happiness be the meaning of life? This question may very well be answered best by a utilitarian such as John Stuart Mill, though the answer is rather simple, and it all has to do with faith. Happiness and even morality are but mere constituents of faith itself. Happiness can be brought about by pleasures, and not all pleasures can be achieved from good intentions. However, faith brings out the best in a human being and determines what actions are the right actions; thus bringing about happiness as an end to such means. To illustrate, let me give you an example. A man robs a bank, having harmed numerous innocent people in the process. Is this man happy? Of course he is. This man is happy because of all the money he has acquired in the process of robbing the bank, though he is certainly not at all morally just due to his intentions. Happiness is indeed an important end. Howeve r, how you achieve that happiness in your life makes all the difference, in which I reiterate: faith leads to good choices, which leads to happiness and morally correct/acceptable behavior. There are certainly normal people that live calm and relatively stable lives free from any sort of disconcerting mindsets, who do not acknowledge the existence of God, or some other divine entity. However, unfortunately, there are those who dont believe in God and are constantly struggling to find meaning to their life. A prime example being Leo Tolstoy himself. As mentioned, Tolstoys entire life was a journey in search for the answer to the meaning of life without the need for the mentioning of God. Obtaining immense amounts of knowledge (e.g. science, mathematics, social sciences, literature, etc.) will not bring you anywhere near closer to answering the question of the meaning of life. People in such cases see life as a trap, and believe that death is the only relief from it. During his darkest years of malicious thought, Tolstoy states, and it was then that I, a man favored by fortune, hid a cord from myself lest I should hang myself from the cross piece of the partition in my ro om where I undressed alone every evening, and I ceased to go out shooting with a gun lest I should be tempted by so easy a way of ending my life (15). Faith and religion can be a means of preventing such actions from occurring. For example, most religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Islamism, Hinduism, just to name a few, deeply frown upon suicide and see it as a sin that can condemn a person to hell. When it all comes down to it, regardless of what kind of life you have, when all else is lost, such as even the desire to live, a person always has their hope and faith, which is something that can never be broken down and diminished. Faith alone has the ability to uplift a damaged soul, and it can be the difference between life and death. Faith can be an expression of ones liveliness and willingness to prosper in life by taking into account the decisions one makes based on that faith. I think we can all agree that all, if not, most human beings long for a fulfilling life and aspire to be the best person they can possible be. Therefore, faith gives people a set of values and ethics by which to live by. Such values in itself does not completely dictate your life; rather, these ethics remind a person of what to take into consideration when they act. To put things into perspective, let me give you a simple example: A low socioeconomic status individual, who is a strong believer in his faith, notices a well-dressed businessman drop his wallet across the street. Does he keep the wallet or give it back? You know the answer as well as I do. The lower class individual acts in accordance with his faith and believes that the morally correct thing to do is give the wallet back, in spite of personal desire to keep the wallet. Why then would this low class commoner decide to follow his faith if hes well aware that there would be no afflictions affiliated with keeping the wallet? No one would ever know he kept the wallet if he had made the opposite decision. To reiterate, these values that peoples faiths (many different faiths) rely upon are some of the things that build character, and establishes a sense of pride and spiritual fulfillment that one so desires. Im not saying that nonbelievers arent capable of such goodness in their lives; on the contrary, they might even have the same personal values regardless of religious beliefs. What I am really trying to get at is the fact that such individuals who rely on faith seem more apt to do the right thing in comparison with others (e.g. Tolstoy during his years of fame, wealth, and malicious indulgence). Faith does not necessarily mean a person is obligated to do good in their life. It is simply a way of directing a person on the right path to a morally just li fe. Although some people may see faith as paramount relative to other important constituents with the question of the meaning of life, logic and reasoning is also something that should be strongly considered. As Aristotle stated, man is a rational animal. Therefore, rationalism and logic are both important aspects in every, if not, most decisions that a person makes in their life. Tolstoy brilliantly states, All the concepts we use to compare the finite to the infinite, and to arrive at an understanding of life, of the concepts of God, freedom and goodness, are put to the test of logic. But they fail to stand up to the critique of reason. What Tolstoy means by this is that religion has a relationship in accordance with reason and knowledge; they complement each other, and help an individual make the right choices in life. Without reason, faith is all but relevant due to the fact that all decisions a human being makes should be rational and in accord with their faith; that is, a particula r set of morals brought upon by a God or divine entity of some sort. He also states, furthermore, I said to myself, the essence of every faith consists in its giving life a meaning which death does not destroy (50). I completely agree with Tolstoy in that faith, although irrational to some people, gives humanity a reply to the question of life. Every human being is entitled to their own faith due to freedom of choice. The most important thing is what you do with that faith, and how your actions shape who you become as a morally just and rational human being.

Research of the Tingunee Essay - 689 Words

Research of the Tingunee Meghan Shmunes Cultural Anthropology Professor Pappas June 9 2013 Shmunes 1 After receiving this grant, I cannot wait to go study the people and culture of Tingunee. Before I embark on this journey to the Tingunee of the lower Quebin river valley though, there are some important things I must make sure I do first. There has been no known visitors to Tingunee or any research conducted on their culture, so I will need to take extra precaution with the basic stages I need to complete. Upon my return, I will hope to be the first person to have a basic understanding of the Tingunee culture. Cultural anthropology is the study of people within a particular culture and†¦show more content†¦I plan to answer questions about subjects including marriage, local government, gender roles, religion/ religious beliefs; more specifically the role females play. I will be figuring these questions out by collecting data within the community and to do so properly, I will need to have an emic approach. An emic approach is how the Tingunee people think, perceive other people, how they behave, and how they imagine and explain things. I decided to take the emic approach over the etic approach because the etic approach would involve me emphasizing what I think is important about a culture after interpreting it and because the Tingunee people have not been studied before, I want other people to know their culture and thought processes without including my opinions. An emic approach will allow me to be a part of the community while taking in information without bias. After being amerc ed in the community with my emic approach, I will be able to determine what distinct cultural characteristics separate this culture from the rest. I plan on interviewing individual people, both male and female, to get different perspectives on everyday life within the tribe and the roles each individual plays in the community. Being a female myself will have advantages when talking to Shmunes 3 the females of the Tingunee tribe. I hope to
